The Chairperson, Dr. Ancy Jose, welcomed the Members of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to its first meeting of the academic year 2012-13. The Meeting was held on 30th June, 2012 at 11:30 am in the Management’s Board Room of the College.
Dr. Moushumi Datta, the Coordinator, of the Cell presented a detailed review of all the important academic activities conducted during the academic year 2011-12. She explained about the College’s desire and preparation to go for Autonomy status. She also requested the members to share their innovative ideas, views and critical comments on the academic activities to make the Cell more reputable.
Mr. Yogesh Sagar, the Member of Legislative Assembly (Maharashtra) and one of the Nominees from Local Society for the IQAC, suggested few ideas to streamline the approach to students. Those are: A) The IQAC team must meet every quarterly and there should be sub-committees under the same which should meet every month. B) Students should be encouraged to involve in social activities by innovative initiatives. C) The mobile-jammers should be used to prevent students using the mobile phones in the college premises. D) Asking senior students to help or interact with the junior students to share ideas, experience and the resources.
The Chairperson shared the experience of taking some disciplinary measures through Social Cell. She told that the students are taken care by the Mentor, who is a teacher. A Mentor takes care of a group comprising of around thirty students. She further told that a professional Counselor is also appointed to counsel the students. She also assured Mr. Sagar that the IQAC will meet every quarterly and the sub-committees shall meet every month.
The Chairperson and the Members congratulated Dr. Varsha Ainapure on bagging the Full-bright Scholarship and Dr. Moushumi Datta on obtaining her second PhD.
