Gandhian Studies Centre's Activities

The UGC Sponsored Gandhian Studies Centre of our college organised following events during August – September, 2012.
1)     On August 30, noted Gandhian- Dr. Jayshree Joshi delivered  a  lecture  on “Gandhi’s Economic Thought”  for  the  Certificate  Course  Students.Sheexplained  the  relevance  of  Gandhi’s  Economic  model  to  India.

2)     On September 1,  an  animation  film  “MY DEAR BAPUJI" was screened which  gave students an insight intosome unknown facts of Bapuji. DrJayshree Joshi moderated the group  discussion  that followed thereafterand clarified the doubts in the minds of students. This  film  was  screened  for  the  school  children  as  well  on  October  6  under  the  Children’s  Movie  Club.

3)     In  commemoration  of  Gandhi  Jayanti  on  October  2,the  Centre  organiseda  campaign  SAY NO TO PLASTIC. An Exhibition cum Sale of Cloth bags was  heldon September  27 and 28 as  part  of  this  venture. These  clothbags  were  stitched by  needy women staying near the college from old Bedsheets  and  Pillow Covers donated by Students and Faculty members of our college, N L High School – Gujarati Primary section and M K E S English Medium – Primary section. More than 150 Bags were sold and  remuneration  was  paid to  the  women  according  to the size of the bags stitched.In spite  of  nominal  rates  being  charged  the  Centre  made  a  profit  due  to  the  recycling  of  old  material. With  this  overwhelming  response, the Centre proposes to conduct the  next Exhibition cum sale in January in  commemoration  of  Martyrs’  Day  on January 30.

Call for Application for the Post of Project Fellow

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate (one post) to work in the Major Research Project (2012-14) sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (Ministry of Human Resource Development) , entitled “Sustainable Development and Its Socio-Economic Implication: The Case of Duars of West Bengal”in the Department of Geography, Nagindas Khandwala College, Mumbai. Appointment will be for one year (January, 2013 – December, 2013).

Qualification:
1.     M.Sc. in Geography or Remote Sensing/GIS with minimum 55% marks.
2.     Adequate Knowledge in Erdas Imagine and Arc GIS

Salary: Rs. 16,000/- per month (fixed)

NSS Completes 10 Days Camp Successfully

The NSS wing of our College completed 10 days Camp successfylly. The camp was conducted at Arnala, Virar (W), Thane district under the able guidance of Mr. Vinay prabhu and Dr. Bharat Pithadia.

The studnet volunteers undertook lot of socio-environmental activities in the said area. The heads of panchayat of Arnala and people of Arnala admired the service of the studnet volunteers. The Principal, teachers and alumni also contributed books, food,and their valuable time in the camp.

College Celebrates Dashera

The College celebrated Dashera with Maha Saraswati Pooja in the Library premises. The students, teaching and non-teaching faculty celebrated the event with prayer, Dashera wishes and sweets.

ISO Audit Team Appreciates College Activities

The Annual ISO Audit team of Germany's TUV-NORD highly appreciated the College's activities and contribution to its stakeholders. The Lead Auditor, Mr. Bhupesh Rane, (in the Exit Meet (on 1st October, 2012) and Mr. Minoo Cawasji had represented the Audit Team.

College Gets 10 ISBNs

Dear all, 

Congratulations!! 


Happy to share a good news. We have got TEN ISBNs from Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN (Government of India) to publish books under the banner of Khandwala Publishing House. So our new publishing unit will publish 10 books by the end of 2013. We strongly feel, it is our College's one of the best achievements.
